Chronological Daily Reading:Psalm 106-107 – there are a couple things I get from this text:
- How important it must be to just meditate on “remembering” what God has done…just taking time to focus on that, which is really hard to do in our ‘now’ society…
- That God does all he does for two reasons: (1) 106:8 – “…yet he saved them for his name’s sake, to make his mighty power known…” (2) 106:45 – “…for their sake he remembered his covenant and out of his great love he relented…” – There seems to be two schools of thoughts (as there are in most things) – One of them leans hard to reason number 1, “for his names sake”. The other side seems to lean hard into reason number two, “for our sake…” But I just wonder is there a third option, I wonder, can the two even be separated?
20th Century Jesuit Alfred Delp wrote,
“If through one man’s life there is a little more love and kindness, a little more light and truth in the world, then he will not have lived in vain“
