Chronological Daily Reading:Psalm 106-107 – there are a couple things I get from this text:

  1. How important it must be to just meditate on “remembering” what God has done…just taking time to focus on that, which is really hard to do in our ‘now’ society…
  2. That God does all he does for two reasons: (1) 106:8 – “…yet he saved them for his name’s sake, to make his mighty power known…” (2) 106:45 – “…for their sake he remembered his covenant and out of his great love he relented…”  –  There seems to be two schools of thoughts (as there are in most things) – One of them leans hard to reason number 1, “for his names sake”.  The other side seems to lean hard into reason number two, “for our sake…”  But I just wonder is there a third option, I wonder, can the two even be separated?

Common Prayer:

20th Century Jesuit Alfred Delp wrote,

If through one man’s life there is a little more love and kindness, a little more light and truth in the world, then he will not have lived in vain
