January 21st

Let me begin today with the same promise I ended with yesterday out of Ephesians 1:

…you also were included in Christ when you heard the message of truth, the gospel of your salvation. When you believed, you were marked in him with a seal, the promised Holy Spirit,  who is a deposit guaranteeing our inheritance until the redemption of those who are God’s possession—to the praise of his glory.

Daily Chronological Reading: Psalm 5, 38, 41-42

  • QUESTION: Who does God make this promise to: “the Lord delivers them in times of trouble. The Lord protects and preserves them—they are counted among the blessed in the land—he does not give them over to the desire of their foes. The Lord sustains them on their sickbed and restores them from their bed of illness.” ANSWER: Those who have regard for the weak…(Psalm 41)
  • I love David’s advice or remedy for the downcast soul … REMEMBER

Daily Common Prayer Reading: Psalm 106:6-12; Zechariah 1; Ephesians 1:15-23

Let’s end today with this short, but magnificent prayer:

Enlighten the eyes of our hearts, O Lord, so we may not only see and receive your mercy but also notice the places in our world where you call us to extend mercy. Amen.
